Turkington takes Croft pole
Ebay Motors' Colin Turkington has taken pole position for tomorrow's Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship races at Croft in North Yorkshire, smashing the circuit's lap record in the process.
The Northern Irish driver set a fastest time of 1:23.246, to end this afternoon's qualifying session nearly four tenths faster than closest rival Jason Plato. The Hondas of Gordon Shedden and Matt Neal were third and fourth.
It is the second year in a row that Turkington has taken pole at Croft, a circuit where rear wheel drive cars are traditionally strong, and the fourth time since 2005.
His team mates Rob Collard and Nick Foster were sixth and 13th respectively.
The session had been red flagged with 12 minutes to go after a spin from Chrome Edition Restart Racing's Alain Menu necessitated barrier repairs.
