After raising over £30million for the NHS Colonel Tom Moore reveals what he plans to do next
After raising more than £32million for the NHS, Colonel Tom Moore revealed what he planned to do next - and he has some big plans.
The 100-year-old record fundraiser, who's initially planned to raise £1,000 by walking 100 laps of his garden, joined Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid on Good Morning Britain today.
His Herculean fundraising efforts have seen him made an honorary Colonel, receive a message from the Queen, have a flyover by the RAF for his 100th birthday and receive enough birthday cards to fill a school hall.
Later this year Colonel Tom will release his autobiography and a children's book with all the proceeds going to his new charity, the Captain Tom Foundation.
Speaking for the first time since he took a break following his 100th birthday Colonel Tom said: "One would never anticipate for a minute that anything like this would happen to you, it really has been an amazing three or four weeks that I've lived through."
When asked what he had planned next Tom's response definitely raised a few eyebrows: "It's hard to say but skydiving I certainly wouldn't mind doing that, it looks like an amazing thing. I don't know whether I could stand it but the idea looks alright."
Ever the diplomat, Tom was asked if he could have dinner with anyone in the world who would it be? He replied: "It would be with you Piers."
In return Piers said Tom would also be his guest of choice.
Someone on Twitter asked who Tom prefers out of Susanna and Amanda Holden to which he replied: "Susanna's here, so it must be Susanna."
On his autobiography Tom said: "I've always been an optimistic person, I've always looked on the bright side throughout my life and that's what I would like to share with people. Look on the bright side and things will get better always."
Finally Tom's daughter Hannah joked that if a film was made of his life he would like Tom Cruise to play him.
