Irish hard border would be 'enormous setback' says expert behind peace deal

George Mitchell, the former US senator who brokered peace in Northern Ireland, told Good Morning Britain that if Brexit results in a hard Irish border it would be an “enormous setback”.

Mitchell said it would “hurt the economy” adding, “You would have the historic irony of the Irish people suffering because of decisions made in the United Kingdom, which the Irish themselves do not support.”
