Lorry drivers join Calais camp protest

We need to make sure that it’s safe for people in the jungle, we need to make sure that it’s safe for the truck drivers, we need to make sure that young unaccompanied children are not exploited.

Dr Rosena Allin-Khan MP

Hundreds of holidaymakers face hours of delays around the French port of Calais today, as lorry drivers stage a go slow protest.

Truckers and farmers are angry about migrants blocking roads, forcing drivers to stop so they can jump aboard.

Protesters are calling for a complete demolition of the Calais jungle camp where nearly 10,000 migrants are living.

Labour MP for Tooting Dr Rosena Allin-Khan was at the camp just yesterday where she worked alongside volunteers to deliver aid donated by her constituents.
