Sir Roger Moore passes away following 'short but brave' cancer battle
Thank you Pops for being you, and for being so special to so many people
Sir Roger Moore, best known for playing James Bond, has passed away in Switzerland aged 89 after a 'short but brave' battle with cancer.
His family put out a statement on the actor, author and charity ambassador's Twitter page paying tribute to him and saying they will hold a private funeral in Monaco.
"We know our own love and admiration will be magnified many times over, across the world, by people who knew him for his films, his television shows and his passionate work for UNICEF which he considered his greatest achievement.
"The affection our father felt whenever he walked onto a stage or in front of a camera buoyed him hugely and kept him busy working into his 90th year, through to his last appearance in November 2016 on stage at London's Royal Festival Hall."
Signed by his children Deborah, Geoffrey and Christian, the family statement went on to thank him for "being so special to so many people".
