Will Smith: 'I want to be part of the solution'

Will Smith has been hitting the headlines after announcing he will boycott the Oscars after a complete lack of black nominees in this year's awards.

And when Kate Garraway caught up with him to talk about his new film Concussion, the Hollywood heavyweight was more than happy to discuss his decision.

He insisted it wasn't personal, reminding us that he's never lost out to a white person before - but said it indicated a worrying "regression" in America that needs to be solved.

He explained: "We have to understand the spirit of what's happening - it's not about us and them - it's about we.

"I'm a member of the Academy so it's a problem we have to solve collectively."

He continued: "There is something happening in our country that's being reflected - I for one want to be part of the solution."
