It's fun to play the bad boy, but the audience seems to have warmed to Gary now he's a bit nicer - it's win, win for me!
– Mikey North
Mikey North, who plays Gary Windass in Coronation Street joins us live to talk about his character's relationship with Alya and how the street is feeling after Deirdre's funeral.
As is often the case in Soapland, Gary and Alya's love story has been one peppered with obstacles, with their families disapproving of their cultural differences and then Alya having a one-night stand with Jason Grimshaw!
Gary told us, "It's all going to end in tears isn't it!". The actor, who has been in the soap since he was 21, agrees that his character has grown up over the years: "It's fun to play the bad boy, but the audience seems to have warmed to Gary now he's a bit nicer - it's win, win for me!"
And while Mikey stays out of the limelight and off Twitter and Facebook, he did reveal that he's getting married next year: "Hopefully my real-life engagement goes a bit smoother than my on-screen one!"
