Lead detective shocked by Dowler murder confession
I was shocked. I never thought Levi Bellfield would admit to anything
– Lead detective in Milly Dowler murder case says he was shocked by Levi Bellfield's admission
Milly Dowler's family say the decision of her killer Levi Bellfield to finally admit to the abduction, rape and murder of the 13 year old has offered no comfort, but instead had a ''devastating'' impact on them.
The serial killer made the admission during a new police inquiry into whether he had an accomplice when he murdered the schoolgirl in 2002.
Former Detective Colin Sutton, who led police to convict the nightclub bouncer, told Good Morning Britain he was shocked by the admission, four years after he was convicted of her killing, but has questioned his motive for confession.
He does everything for a reason. He's a very manipulative and calculated person.
