Shadow Foreign Secretary: We're 'stuck with no way forward' on Brexit deal
Shadow Foreign Secretary Emily Thornberry has said the the only way forward with Brexit is to give the public a referendum.
The Labour MP says the government 'aren't getting anywhere' with current negotiations, and insists the public should have a say.
She told Piers and Susanna: "We have been trying to leave in a proper way that looks after the economy but we have got ourselves completely stuck, we have got a government that doesn't listen, that won't change what it is that they want. We're just stuck and we can't move on any further."
Pressed on whether having another referendum is defying the will of the people, Emily argued: "We don't agree with a bad deal, we don't agree with no deal. We think we need to go back to the public and say to them 'look we're sorry, but we have got ourselves completely stuck. There is no way forward apart from going back to the public and asking 'Is this what you want? Is this what you voted for? What do you want?'
"It's not asking the same question again, it's after three years of getting completely stuck and we're not getting anywhere."
"I will be arguing hard in our manifesto that we should not put that we leave, I think we should remain."
