José Mourinho is returning to the Premier League as the new manager of Tottenham Hotspur.
The flamboyant Portuguese coach replaces Mauricio Pochettino, who was sacked yesterday following the club's poor run of form in the Premier League this season.
He has signed a contract until the end of the 2022-23 season.
Commenting on the appointment, Spurs Chairman Daniel Levy said: “In Jose we have one of the most successful managers in football. He has a wealth of experience, can inspire teams and is a great tactician. He has won honours at every club he has coached. We believe he will bring energy and belief to the dressing room.”
Mauricio Pochettino joined the club in 2014 and guided Spurs to top 4 finishes in the Premier League and incredible runs in the Champions League.
But with Spurs struggling for form this year, the 47-year-old has been under huge pressure.
This will be the third English club Mourinho has managed having previously taken the helm at Chelsea FC from 2013 to 2015 and Manchester United.
