The majority of father's are having to use their allotted annual leave allowance to help look after and bond with their newborn child, a survey has revealed.
Mumsnet spoke to 1000 new parents about how they were coping with the stress of having a child, and four out of five couples said they wanted the Dad at home more often. Fathers were doing their best to share the childcare and get to know their new baby, but two-thirds admitted using holiday days to do so.
Fathers are entitled two weeks' paid paternity leave of at least £138 per week under the law. However, only one in every six employers tops that figure up, despite evidence showing most fathers wanted to take more time off to care for their kids, according to Mumsnet.
