Call the Midwife and former EastEnders star Cliff Parisi is lacing up his Jungle boots ready to enter Camp!
But no amount of rehearsals can prepare the actor for what’s in store in the Outback...
Cliff, best known for his role as Minty in EastEnders and Fred Buckle in Call The Midwife, is feeding himself up in preparation for the infamous rice and beans rations. “I will be going in with a full belly, a big breakfast, nice lunch and I will be jolly whilst they will all be starving!” he laughs, but admits being a late entry can be tricky “because they will have bonded and made friendships.”
So is Cliff ready to get up close to the Outback’s crawling residents - and the Trials? “I don’t like any of that stuff,” he says. “I’m a Londoner. We don’t have animals - I’m allergic to cats. And when I go to the zoo, I am looking at the animals from behind glass.” Good luck with that one in the Jungle, Cliff...
As well as bringing that great big smile to Camp, Cliff thinks he’ll slip into another role among his fellow Celebs. “I will be saying ‘did I ever tell you about the time?’ chuckles Cliff. “I’ll be the Camp bore!”
The actor admits he’ll be missing his wife and kids while he’s Down Under, and tell us his wife has already left him lots of notes with tips on how to behave in the Jungle.
“She has left me loads of notes saying ‘don’t be annoying’, ‘don’t do this’ as she knows all the things that are going to annoy everyone! You can’t pretend to be anyone else in the Jungle but yourself and I just hope I don’t make my family cringe or be really embarrassing.”
Let’s find out, shall we? Let's get ready to Jungle!
