Anastacia on breast cancer, Crohn's disease and not having children: 'I realised kids probably won’t be my journey'
ANASTACIA TALKS BREAST CANCER, CROHN'S DISEASE AND NOT HAVING CHILDREN
We were joined by US singing sensation Anastacia who opened up about reconstructive surgery following breast cancer and being diagnosed with Crohn's disease when she was young. And Anastacia, 49, also discussed why she's not had children despite thinking she'd have 10.
While talking about whether her previous health issues were part of her decision not to have children, Anastacia said: 'No it wasn’t at all. When I had more health issues, I was like, "OK, surrogate!" because I was still like, "I need to be a mum, I need to be a mum of 12". I felt like I had "mum syndrome". I felt I was going to have 10 kids.'
She added: “I don’t regret it because I feel my life is so full at the present time. What I’ve done in my realisation that kids probably won’t be my journey is that I started to really, really fall in love with my career. When people are like, "Are you in love?" And I say, "Yes", and they say, "With who?" and I say, "My career!". It’s really interesting that this is where I’ve come to, that it’s really enjoying being able to perform.'
And Anastacia is happy with her decision to be childfree saying she came to the realisation a few years ago. 'About two years ago, three years ago when I was coming back from the mastectomy, I just kind of felt like I really want to enjoy it,' she told us. 'I’ve been putting so much attention into should I have kids, should I do this, should I do that, I need to have a relationship…'
