Ola and James Jordan: Baby Ella's arrival in lockdown has been 'amazing' and 'surreal'

James and Ola Jordan told the Loose Women that welcoming their baby daughter, Ella, into the world during lockdown has been a "surreal" and "amazing" experience.

Speaking from their home in Kent, the professional dancers and former Strictly stars said they're "winging it" as first-time parents and spoke about how the lack of contact with friends and family has made things a little more challenging.

They explained how they'd had to rush their new arrival to hospital for a check when she was just five weeks old, after she appeared to be choking on her own saliva. Thankfully baby Ella was diagnosed with silent reflux and the family was able to return home.

James and Ola previously spoke about their long journey to parenthood with the Loose Women, detailing their struggles to conceive and discussing the IVF process.

"I think it made us even stronger than we were," Ola said at the time. "We were in it together. We've got a strong relationship," James added. "We've been together nearly 20 years, so we've been through a lot."

"Life is just going to be totally different for us," Ola said, while speaking about the transition from dancing duo to a family of three, "but we wanted that for a long time."

Dancing will still play a big part in baby Ella's life, though, as James admitted he'd already been waltzing his daughter around the bedroom.

"Because we have to hold her up for so long before we put her down because of this reflux, sometimes I have a little dance with her," he said. Though, curiously enough, it appears he's got big plans for his little girl to pick up a golf club.

Oh, and in case you were wondering, James hasn't forgotten about his experience of 'giving birth' with the assistance of our very own own Coleen Nolan.

Having now seen his wife going through the real deal in the delivery room, he says he has even more respect for women who've given birth.
