Denise Welch back on Loose Women after five years: 'I got married and I got sober. I'm a different person now'
DENISE WELCH IS BACK ON LOOSE WOMEN AND OPENS UP ABOUT HER SOBER LIFE
After five years aways from the show, Denise made a welcome return to the panel alongside Kaye Adams, Nadia Sawalha and Stacey Solomon.
And Denise, 60, explained she lives a very different life to the one she had when she was on the show before.
'It is five years in October since I left and six years since I got sober,' she said. 'I got married and I got sober.'
Denise and husband Lincoln Townley, 45, gave up alcohol after they met - fuelled by her fear she’d lose him following a wild night out. She looked back a photo of herself in the studio and revealed it was the last time she'd ever drunk alcohol.
'I woke up sprawled over a car. Lincoln had videoed me,' Denise explained. 'I'd smashed the flat up, and he picked me up from the theatre that night, spoke to me all the way, told me that he loved me... I had complete blackouts.'
'Door was off its hinges, I'd smashed the lamp. I had no recollection but I got defensive. He told me he loved me that possibly this relationship possibly wouldn’t work now.'
'This man was the love of my life, and I gave up that night and I've never touched a drop since. I am proud of myself, I'm proud of us both,' Denise added.
'I am a different person now. I have guilt and shame – I have to deal with it with myself. I’m still fun now.'
It's good to have you back Denise!
