Hollyoaks actress Stephanie Davis talks about going to rehab: "I was drinking three bottles of wine in the morning"
STEPHANIE DAVIS OPENS UP ABOUT ALCOHOLISM AND GOING TO REHAB
Hollyoaks actress Stephanie joined us to talk about going to rehab following multiple suicide attempts and alcoholism.
Steph, who has a son, Caben-Albi, with ex partner Jeremy McConnell, opened up about asking to go to rehab and paid tribute to her little boy who she says 'saved her life'.
On going to rehab, Steph said, "I think you can only really do it yourself. People were telling me for ages. I didn't want to hear it. I gave up the fight. I did not want to do it every day. It wasn't out of choice. It's an illness and I was broken. When I said I wanted to go to rehab my mum and auntie cried. They said, 'We've got our Steph back'."
"At the end I was drinking every day, a lot, probably three bottles of wine in the morning," she revealed. "I got told I had trauma and PTSD when I got to rehab. I was having panic attacks and anxiety. I was having night terrors. I was using it to go to sleep. I was in so much pain. I had to realise that blocked the pain for a while but then it starts to take and take and take."
"I didn’t want to live. I wanted to die. I didn’t want to live anymore. I tried to kill myself,' Steph explained. "But when I thought about doing it again it was scary. I thought it's not to leave him [Caben] without a mum and a dad."
Steph returned to Hollyoaks playing Sinead O'Connor in May 2018 after three years away from the soap and is now happy in a relationship with co-star Owen Warner.
