Daniel Mays, star of Vera Drake, Atonement and Mrs Biggs, joins Lorraine to discuss his latest play Red Lion and starring in the new film version of Dad's Army.
Daniel plays the current manager in the play about football. Although he admits that it's a play for all ages. He said, "The response has been amazing – we’re absolutely buzzing! There’s only three of us on stage so we’re thrilled [at how Red Lion has been received]. It is a play about football but deals with morality."
Daniel is also taking on James Beck's iconic role of Walker in the movie remake of Dad's Army. He said, "It sounds like a cliché but I had so much fun on it. The cast they ensemble was absolutely top drawer. It didn’t feel like work."
Daniel's a busy man as he's also in BBC police drama Line of Duty and has been filming scenes alongside Will Mellor in between performances of Red Lion.
When asked if he wanted anything else, maybe a little radio show, Daniel joked to Lorraine, "Move over, I’ll do your job as well."
