Madonna shows her support for Change And Check breast cancer awareness campaign
The Queen of Pop has shown her support for Lorraine’s groundbreaking Change And Check breast cancer awareness campaign. Last night, Madonna posted a picture in her dressing room on Instagram - with a Change And Check sticker prominently displayed on the door in the background.
The Change And Check sticker details the signs of breast cancer, which Madonna's mother died of when Madonna was just five years old. The stickers are displayed in thousands of changing rooms in John Lewis, Warehouse, Monsoon, Oasis, Ted Baker, ASDA, M&Co and David Lloyd Gyms nationwide to remind us what we should be checking for.
The campaign is the brainchild of Lorraine producer Helen Addis, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in April 2018. Helen came up with the idea to place ‘reminder’ stickers in changing rooms across the country to remind women to check their breasts while they are getting changed.
During her visit to the UK, Madonna also spoke exclusively to Dan Wootton about the origins of her Madame X alter ego and revealed that she no longer cares what people think of her. Speaking on ‘The Dan Wootton Podcast’, Madonna said: “Let’s say I refuse to bend the knee to convention and to what society expects of me as a woman, as an artist, as a human being. I feel like, now more than ever, because of social media, people feel an enormous amount of pressure to be popular, to fit in, to not rock the boat, to not be too subversive, to not be too political. People are really a slave to winning people’s approvals.”
