Dramatic video has emerged of a decidedly scary plane landing when a Ryanair flight was forced to land sideways in strong winds.

The aircraft was filmed already wobbling upon arrival as it prepared to touch down on the runway at a blustery Leeds Bradford airport.

As the front wheels met the tarmac, the back of the craft is seen swinging out to the side in reported 70mph gales, dragging the plane to the right and creating a trail of smoke.

Just as the craft looks set to spin out of control, the pilot corrects the plane's direction and avoids a potential crash landing.

The plane is then seen safely beginning its taxiing across the West Yorkshire airfield.
