Lewis Hamilton is aiming for a historic second Formula One title as he prepares for a final-day showdown with teammate and rival Nico Rosberg.

Rosberg currently sits in pole position ahead of the race at the Yas Marina circuit, with victory in the final race also worth double points.

However, with Hamilton 17 points ahead in the driver's championship, all the British driver needs to do is claim one of the top two spots to ensure overall victory.

The Mercedes pair appear to have a frosty relationship, with Rosberg stating before the race: "Lewis has everything to lose, I have everything to gain, so for sure the pressure is on him."

Speaking after coming four-tenths of a second behind his rival in qualifying, Hamilton nonetheless seemed confident of victory.

"I don't really pay much attention to him," he said when asked about Rosberg.

"Me, I just keep to myself and do my talking on the track, and I know from my experiences of the past I'm better prepared than I ever have been."
