Bereaved mum 'touched' after Duchess of Cambridge writes personal letter of condolence

A mum whose baby daughter passed away has revealed how "touched" she was after receiving a personal letter of condolence from the Duchess of Cambridge.

Leigh Smith, 33, had the chance to meet Kate when she attended a fundraiser for East Anglia Children's Hospices (EACH).

Mrs Smith was among several families who have benefited from the work of EACH, for whom the Duchess is a royal patron.

The physiotherapist lost her daughter Beatrice to a rare heart condition when she was just 89 days old.

She wrote to the Duchess detailing her story and was stunned to receive a reply written by Kate herself.

Beatrice would have been due to celebrate her first birthday this Friday.
