'I love you Anne': Bill Roache leads touching NTA tribute to Coronation Street co-star Anne Kirkbride

ITV News Reporter Nina Nannar on the tributes to Anne:

Coronation Street co-star Bill Roache led a personal tribute to Anne Kirkbride which left audience members at the National Television Awards in tears.

Roache has played Ken Barlow opposite Kirkbride's Deidre for 40 years.

For over 40 years our dear friend Anne Kirkbride played the part of Deirdre and she became one of the best loved and most enduring characters on British television.

With her husky voice and trade mark spectacles the nation took Deirdre to their hearts.

What we'll remember the most is the vibrant, warm hearted loving person who came to work each day, gave us all a hug and brightened up our lives.

We've been deeply touched by the outpouring of love for Anne. We share your grief, and sadness at losing such a beautiful person who will be so greatly missed by us all.

I love you Anne.
