Premier League TV rights deal in numbers
The Premier League has sold the television rights to 168 top-flight games from 2016 to 2019 for a record £5.136 billion.
The staggering sum represents a 70% increase in the value of TV rights.
Each match will now cost broadcasters £10.2 billion per match or around £113,000 a minute.
Sky has nearly doubled its investment to £4.176 billion in order to retain five of the seven packages.
It will broadcast 126 matches, including the new Friday night slot.
BT Sport paid £960 million for the rights to two packages, making up 42 games.
It will broadcast the Saturday evening slot instead of its current Saturday lunchtime package.
And finally - what will this mean for Premier League clubs?
If the overseas TV rights increase by the same percentage as the UK rights then the bottom club will earn around £99 million a season and the top club £156 million.
