Scientists warn millions of lives could be at risk if drug resistant malaria spreads to India

Malaria is caused by a parasite transmitted by mosquitoes.

Scientists have warned that millions of people are potentially at risk from a strain of malaria that's resistant to one of the main drugs for treating the infectious disease.

It is feared major outbreaks could result, if drug resistant malaria spreads from Burma, where it has taken hold, into India.
