Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo risks punishment after appearing to 'grab testicles' in gesture at referee

Ronaldo may be punished for playing with his balls.

There are few players better at ball control than Cristiano Ronaldo, but the Real Madrid forward has decided to – quite literally – take the discipline into his own hands.

The Ballon d'Or winner and former Man Utd ace is facing action from the Spanish football authorities after appearing to gesture at a match official by grabbing his testicles.

Ronaldo is already being investigated for mockingly ordering the Barcelona supporters to calm down after he scored in Sunday's Clasico at Camp Nou.

It was the Catalan fans who enjoyed the last laugh when former Liverpool striker Luis Suarez struck a brilliantly executed second-half winner.

But Ronaldo is now courting fresh controversy thanks to what can only be described as an obscene gesture, or vulgar flirting, with referee Antonio Mateu.

The 30 year-old appears to repeatedly shout "Mateu, you like it?" as he grabs his prized assets.

La Liga President Javier Tabes told Marca:

We can't permit people to make gestures like these; we need to rid football of them. If Ronaldo touched his balls, he has to be punished.
