A couple who found love during VE Day celebrations have told ITV News of the moment romance blossomed.
Betty and Cyril Axon were teenagers when they met at a VE Day party outside Leigh Town Hall in Lancashire and have now been married more than 65 years.
"We danced together and she's put up with me ever since," Cyril, 86, said.
News of Germany's surrender on May 8th 1945 sparked wild celebrations across the UK, and led to romance for many couples including Betty and Cyril and their close friends.
Describing the party atmosphere, Betty, 85, said: "It was wonderful, there was lights everywhere, music playing, everybody dancing and hugging people you'd never met before."
The couple went on to have two children, grandchildren and now great-grandchildren.
"For many VE Day was a beginning as well as the end of the war in Europe," ITV News' Paul Davies said.
