An eel taller than a double-decker bus has been caught by fisherman off the British coast.
The 20-foot conger eel was accidentally caught in the nets of a trawler off Plymouth in Devon.
Scott Govier, the 42-year-old commercial fisherman who caught the enormous creature, said he was "stunned" by the size of it.
It was too much of a magnificent specimen to kill, but as he was already dead it seemed worth bringing him in.
Despite its record-breaking size, the beast only made just over £40 when sold at Plymouth market.
"Congers aren't worth much these days, but it went for more than I expected," Govier said.
