Woman thanks hero who saved her life after she sleepwalks into sea

A woman has called a hotel porter "her hero" after he saved her life when she sleepwalked half a mile from her home into the sea.

Marie Lord, who has not sleepwalked since she was 13, only realised where she was when she tasted salt water.

By that point she was waist deep in the water and a giant wave was washing over her pulling her out to sea.

She told Good Morning Britain: "I kept calling help me, help me, but unfortunately in this day and age nobody came, apart from Lee."

Quick-thinking Lee Searle was on a night shift at a nearby hotel when he heard Marie's cries for help.

He said: "I leapt up and there she was soaking wet, with no shoes on.

"I got her inside and quickly dialled 999 and got her wrapped up in blankets, gave her tea and kept her conscious until the ambulance arrived."

But it could have been a very different story if Lee had not been there. Marie could have drowned or died from hypothermia.

Reunited with her rescuer, Marie, from Weston-Super-Mare in Somerset, said: "Thanks Lee, you are my hero."
