Homeless Filipino boy who used McDonald's light to do homework offered scholarship

A homeless Filipino boy has been offered a college scholarship after this photo of him doing his homework using light from a McDonald's went viral.

Nine-year-old Daniel Cabrera will now be able to pursue his dream of becoming a policeman after the picture was shared online by student Joyce Torrefranca.

She captioned it her Facebook post with "I got inspired by a kid" and it went on to be shared more than 8,000 times.

Miss Torrefranca later wrote: "I didn't think that a simple photo can make a huge difference. Thank you guys for sharing the photo.

"With that, we were able to help Daniel in reaching his dreams. I hope Daniel's story will continue touching our hearts so that we will always be inspired and motivated in every situation we face in life."

Daniel has been inundated with offers since the photo was circulated around the world.

Local police have also raised money and provided groceries for his family.
