Primark security guard 'snatched child from mother's breast after she refused to stop breastfeeding'

A Primark security guard allegedly pulled a child from her mother's breast during a row over breastfeeding.

Caroline Starmer, 28, claims she was asked to leave the store in Leicester when she started breastfeeding her nine-month-old daughter Paige on Monday.

When she refused, she alleges the security guard "physically removed" the girl from her breast before saying if she wanted her baby back, " I was to come and get her".

Primark said its security staff "categorically" denied the allegations, and said its own investigations found no evidence to support Ms Starmer's claims.

It also claimed that none of the security guards on duty at the time fitted the description given.

Ms Starmer made the claims on the breastfeeding campaign Free to Feed Facebook page.

She said her confidence is "shot" and her daughter has not been herself since the alleged incident.

The 28-year-old also said she had reported the matter to Leicestershire Police, who confirmed that they had taken a further statement from her, adding that local officers were investigating.

Primark said it took the allegation "very seriously" but claimed a review of CCTV footage had found no evidence of the woman being approached.
