A cafe has been slammed for putting a sign out urging people to eat cake to avoid getting kidnapped in the town where April Jones was abducted and killed.
The sign outside the Chimes cafe in Machynlleth said: "The more you weigh, the harder you are to kidnap! Stay safe. Eat cake!"
April was just five when she went missing near her home in October 2012.
Local residents took to Twitter to voice their anger over the "shocking" blackboard sign, which has apparently been up for weeks.
Angharad Penrhyn, who tweeted an image of the sign, said: "In view of April Jones, shocking."
She added she had spoken to the cafe owner who apparently told her: "Apparently the sign is humorous and the kidnapping "years ago" and I am being "hypersensitive".
The cafe's owner told the BBC the sign was not meant to be distasteful or offensive.
She added the sign had been on "display for many weeks" and she had "only received one comment".
ITV News has attempted to contact the cafe for further comment.
Mark Bridger, 47, was jailed for life for murdering April in a sexually motivated attack.
Her remains have never been found.
