Two people have died and another is fighting for his life in hospital after the car they were travelling in crashed into a house and burst into flames.
South Yorkshire Police were called to the property in Poppyfields Way near Doncaster at around 12.50pm today.
Officers believe there were five males in the car but witnesses reported seeing two men fleeing the scene of the crash.
They said the two who ran from the crash site were probably also seriously hurt.
Michael Burton, whose parents own the house but are on holiday in Tenerife, said his girlfriend was inside at the time of the crash.
"Luckily, we had a rockery in the garden because, if that rockery hadn't been there, I've got a feeling that the car would have gone through the front of the house and it would have gone up in flames."
He said his girlfriend saw one man get out of the car "burning alive" but he ran off across the road.
"My heart goes out to the families. It's tragic, such a real shame," he added.
One local business owner said his CCTV had caught two, possibly three cars racing side-by-side before the crash.
Anyone with information about the collision or the whereabouts of the unaccounted for males is asked to contact 101 quoting incident number 451.
