Jeremy Clarkson takes a battering as he makes his TV return tonight hosting Have I Got News For You.

It is Clarkson's first screen appearance since being axed from Top Gear for punching a producer.

And he was the butt of every joke made by the panellists, which include Ian Hislop and Paul Merton.

According to the Mirror, Clarkson is asked if he planned to call his Top Gear successor Chris Evans, with guest Camilla Long saying: "Go on Jeremy, punch him."

Fellow guest Richard Osman goaded: "You remember how to punch, don't you?".

In the newspaper's exclusive, it says Paul Merton falls off his chair punching himself and adds: "Oooh, he’s rolling up his sleeve."
