'Your future is whatever you make it': 'Doc Brown' posts inspirational message for Back to the Future Day

Back to the Future star Christopher Lloyd has recorded a special message to mark the arrival of 'The Future' - the date to which his character Doc Brown travels with Marty McFly in the classic sci-fi sequel.

Lloyd, now 76, played the genius inventor in all three Back to the Future films.

Dressed in full Doc Brown costume - flowing white locks and all - and sitting in the iconic time-travelling DeLorean, Lloyd acknowledges that the future is rather different to what the 1989 movie predicted.

But he finishes with inspirational advice, telling people their future is "whatever you make it".

In the video, posted to the official Back to the Future Trilogy Facebook page, he says:

Great scott! If my calculations are correct, it is now precisely October 21, 2015. The future has finally arrived.

Yes, it is different than we all thought, but don't worry - it just means your future hasn't been written yet. No one's has.

Your future is whatever you make it. So make it a good one.
