Former Rolling Stones member Bill Wyman has begun treatment for prostate cancer but is expected to make a "full recovery".
The cancer was caught in the "early stages", according to a spokesperson for the 79-year-old musician.
London-born Wyman played bass with the Stones from 1962 until he left the band in 1993 and later formed Bill Wyman's Rhythm Kings.
News of his ill health came days after he was seen at the wedding blessing of Stones frontman Mick Jagger's ex-partner Jerry Hall and media mogul Rupert Murdoch.
The statement from Wyman's representatives requested privacy for the family as he continues his cancer treatment.
