A fresh appeal has been launched to find a tattoo artist who has been missing for 36 years and bring to a close a "tragic mystery".

Thomas Gerry Redmond, was 26, when he disappeared from his home in Tooting in the summer of 1979 but more than three decades later police are still trying to piece together what happened to him.

Redmond, a tattooist at what used to be the Barry Louvaine tattoo shop on Garratt Lane in Earlsfield, is described as a white man who would now be 62 years old and who has distinguishing body art.

According to police Redmond has tattoos including an eagle, pirate and rose and the words 'Rob Tattoo' on his right forearm. On his left forearm he had tattoos of two birds, a rose, a horse's head and the words 'Gerry and Darren' in reference to his brother.

Anyone with information is asked to call PS Tony Rutland of Wandsworth police via 101 or the charity Missing People on 116000.
