Man arrested at Gatwick Airport on suspicion of Syria-related terror offences

A man has been arrested at Gatwick Airport on suspicion of Syria-related terrorism offences.

The 24-year-old suspect was held before he boarded a flight, West Midlands Police said.

A 20-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of the same offence at an address in west London.

Both are being held at a police station in the West Midlands, while searches are being carried out at two addresses in Birmingham.

Police stressed that there was no risk to any passengers at the airport during the operation.
