Danny Willett may be the new Masters champion, but his brother Peter gained almost as much notoriety overnight thanks to his hilarious running Twitter commentary.

The golfer's brother gained himself thousands of new followers and retweets as he watched the drama unfold from home.

"Speechless. I once punched that kid in the head for hurting my pet rat. Now look," he tweeted.

At one point he also wrote: "If the boy does what he should, I will be able to say 'I've shared a bath with a Masters winners."

Peter seemingly cracked open the champagne when it became clear Danny was on the verge of claiming the green jacket.

He told Good Morning Britain: "It's really surreal this morning, I only got about an hour or so sleep. I'm at work in an hour, so at the moment I feel slightly sick.

"It's all quite odd. It's not sunk in yet. It's just odd. He's done something that so few people are ever going to do."
