A man who was caught swearing at a speed camera has been jailed after admitting a decade's worth of lies made as he tried to dodge almost 70 speeding charges.
Waqas Chaudhry, director of Manchester-based Speedy Sofas Ltd, even put German export registration plates on his Mercedes delivery van in the hope they would throw investigators off his trail.
Manchester Crown Court heard that between 2003 and 2014, either 47-year-old Chaudhry, of Davehall Avenue, Wilmslow, Cheshire, or his relatives were caught speeding a total of 67 times.
Unbeknownst to his family, when the prosecution notices arrived, he offered up bogus information to try to make the charges disappear.
He was jailed for 18 months after pleading guilty to conspiracy to pervert the course of justice, and was disqualified from driving for 21 months.
PC Vaughan Sherrah-Davies, from Greater Manchester Police's road crime division welcomed the sentence.
