Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany will miss Sunday's vital Premier League clash with Arsenal after suffering a groin injury at Real Madrid in midweek.

He joins playmaker David Silva (hamstring) and right-back Pablo Zabaleta (calf) on the sidelines while left-back Aleksandar Kolarov is also out with a knock.

Midfielder Samir Nasri is back in contention after being ineligible in the Champions League.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has suffered a fresh knee injury which Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed will see him sidelined for up to eight weeks.

Defender Per Mertesacker joins Oxlade-Chamberlain on the treatment table after picking up a hamstring problem - ruling him out of Sunday's clash at Manchester City and the final-day fixture at home to Aston Villa.

Santi Cazorla could be involved for the first time since November while fellow midfielders Mikel Arteta and Tomas Rosicky are also fit.
