The much-delayed report into the Iraq War will be published on Wednesday July 6 following an agreement with the author Sir John Chilcot and the Prime Minister.

Sir John has come under fire for delays in producing his report, including a rebuke from David Cameron and victims' families.

The inquiry heard 130 sessions of witness evidence and received more than 150,000 documents.

The report's publication has been delayed by a process called "Maxwellisation", under which those who may face criticism - believed to include former prime minister Tony Blair - are given the opportunity to respond before publication.

A spokesperson for Mr Blair said he "welcomes the fact a date a set has been set for publication".

Jack Straw, who was foreign secretary at the time of the 2003 invasion, told ITV News he hoped he had nothing to fear from the inquiry's report.

Sir John confirmed in a letter to Mr Cameron the report will be published electronically in little under two months.
