Labour supporters have been branded "disgraceful" and "bullies" after booing and hissing the BBC's political editor Laura Kuenssberg as she stood to ask a question.

The senior journalist was invited to address party leader Jeremy Corbyn after he gave a speech outlining his support for Britain remaining in the EU.

But he was forced to step in to quiet the crowd as they began booing.

It comes after an online petition racked up more than 35,000 signatures calling for Ms Kuenssberg to be sacked from her job, accusing her of "biased" reporting of Mr Corbyn.

Labour's deputy leader Tom Watson later condemned those booing, describing them as "rude and inappropriate" on Twitter.

Political journalists including ITV News deputy political editor Chris Ship and Sky News presenter Kay Burley were among those to condemn the hecklers.
