Woman arrested after gunshot incidents in quiet town

Police have launched a "large scale investigation" after reports of gunshots at four different locations in the quiet county town of Bedford.

On Friday night, police responded to reports of gunshots in Faraday Square, Bedford, at around 10pm.

One woman was injured and taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries after being shot in the arm in the area.

Shots were then reported at three other locations in Bedford during the early hours of Saturday:

  • Lovell Road (1am)

  • Foxglove Way (1.20am)

  • Romsey Way (5am)

Superintendent Mark Upex, of Bedfordshire police, said: "I'd like to reassure the public that we have launched a thorough investigation into these incidents and are following a number of lines of inquiry to help find the people responsible.

"We are treating the incidents as linked and we believe they may have been targeted attacks."

One woman has been arrested and taken into custody for questioning.
