Nick Clegg filmed Carly Rae Jepsen music video but Lib Dems kept footage secret

The Liberal Democrats have never released their version of the music video

Nick Clegg secretly filmed a version of the music video of Carly Rae Jepsen's hit song 'I Really Like You', playing the role of Tom Hanks, it has been revealed.

The film was made in the run up to last year's general elections in the hope it would boost the former Lib Dem leader's popularity, but it has never seen the light of day.

In the original film, Hanks walks the streets of Manhattan, waving to passers-by, exchanging high-fives and posing for selfies before joining Jepsen to perform the song.

In the Liberal Democrats version - filmed in Gravesend, Kent - Mr Clegg takes on that role, according to The Times.

The video reportedly cost £8,000 to make.

It was never released and the Liberal Democrats appear keen too keep it that way.

A party spokesman said: "Yes, we made the video - and no you can't see it."
