A naughty child has sent ambulance staff a very apologetic note after being caught making a hoax 999 call.

The handwritten letter was delivered to staff at East Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust after what was clearly some deep soul-searching.

It lists three very good reasons not to prank the emergency services, including "You will get really told off by the people on the phone" and "It could stop someone else that needs help".

The unnamed writer ends by pledging: "I promise I will never do it again, I'm very, very sorry."

The ambulance service shared the "adorable" letter on their Twitter feed, without identifying its writer.
