At least 18 people were injured after they were fired at by a motorist with a paintball gun.

The pedestrians were all injured on the same evening when a man drove a white Mercedes 350GLE on false number plates through the streets of Islington, north London.

The first shooting occurred at around 9pm on Friday, August 5, on Camden Road.

The man, who is described as white and in his 40s, is then thought to have carried on his spree driving through Archway, the backstreets of Holloway, Prebend Street in Islington, Clerkenwell and Canonbury, before the final assault at around 11pm close to St Paul's Road.

The Mercedes was also seen parked in the N1 and EC1 areas of Islington.

It is thought that the man may have been accompanied by one or more people who were driving a red Ford Focus.

Anyone with information on the assaults should contact Detective Constable Alex Simmons at Islington on 020 7421 0262 or via 101.
