The moment an out-of-control empty cruise ship became wedged under a railway bridge on a river of ice in New York has been captured on camera.
Footage, released by News 10 ABC, showed the four-deck Captain JP III ship crashing into a bridge.
The giant vessel, which measures 91 metres, had broken free from its moorings as ice flows churned the Hudson River.
Passers by watched as emergency teams attended to the ship while trains continue to pass overhead.
Two Coast Guard ice-breaking cutters and two commercial tug boats were dispatched to pull the ship free.
