'My family are worried': Elderly pensioner left waiting months for building work amid shortages

ITV News Consumer Editor Chris Choi reports on the lengthy delays people are facing for construction work

An elderly pensioner has told ITV News of the mounting worry his family is facing over lengthy delays to renovation work - which is leaving him to continue living alone.

Stan Moore is having to wait more than five months before he can move home because of lengthy delays to the extension in his son's home.

He told ITV News: "I've been on my own for a long, long while and my family are worried about me."

"And the radiator has to be put up and the shower still has to be connected - but when that's going to be, I don't know," he adds.

Mr Moore added: "It's taken such a long while, I've never known it to be as long as this."

His comments come as figures given to ITV News reveal the sheer devastation of the construction crisis.

Deliveries have also been found to be delayed by up to four weeks.

Prices have also rocketed over 12 months, including a 100% rise for timber, 20% for bricks and cement has increased by as much as 25%.
