Anglia viewer John Moore spotted the black fox in the village of Bassingbourn near Royston.

Black foxes are in fact red foxes which have black fur due to a genetic flaw. The phenomenon is sometimes seen in fox cubs, but usually their coat will turn a chestnut colour as they grow.

In Gaelic tradition the black fox is thought to bring bad luck to those who see it.
