A seriously ill teenager from our region has had a night to remember, meeting some of her favourite stars at a charity concert at The Royal Albert Hall.
JLS, Pixie Lott, Alexandra Burke, Leona Lewis, Diversity and Spelbound were just some of the acts who performed at last night's Rays of Sunshine Concert. The event was organised by a charity which grants wishes for seriously ill children between 3 and 18 years old. It was dubbed 'A Night of 1000 Wishes', with over 1,000 children attending as guests of honour.
One of them was Sophie Washington,16, from Welwyn Garden City. She is waiting for a pancreas transplant and currently lives with two nurses.
Last night she fulfilled her wish of singing on stage with JLS. A spokesperson for the band told us: "Every one of these young people has inspired us with their strength and bravery."
“Every day of the year, Rays of Sunshine creates moments of escape for children in the UK living with serious illnesses, by granting wishes and organising outings and events."
